Vintage Art Deco – RARE 1940’s “Leaping Gazelles” Compact Case

A very beautiful old Art Deco piece. Perfect for the collector. It would make a fabulous gift. Beautiful little case to store your business cards, cash or cigarettes in.

A vintage Art Deco 1940’s- 50’s Cigarette case, signed Evans , with raised copper color signature design”Leaping Gazelles” in goldtone metal. It is 5 1/2″ inches long and 3 1/8″ inches wide and 3/8″ inch deep. It is in excellent vintage condition with a textured interior as seen in photo . The gold tone metal is shiny with no corrosion or verdigris and has normal vintage wear. There are no dents in the metal. The hinges and latch works great There are some light scratches on the back. No dents, rust or corrosion.

Background: The D. Evans Case Co. produced vanity compacts in the 1920s and continued producing lipstick compact cases, dance purses, cigarette combination cases and more. Its fashionable Art Deco-style vanity cases, used to carry cosmetics and other personal items, became a craze for ladies in high society at the time. Evans vanity cases in good condition are now sought after by collectors who enjoy the era they represent.
